DID YOU KNOW?? Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane’s primary car in The Dukes of Hazzard was a 1978 Dodge Monaco (often mistaken for other years) and painted with “County Sheriff” decals. These, along with other Hazzard police cars, were modified by Rich Sephton, featured working light bars, sirens, and were often destroyed in stunts similar to the General Lee. Various Mopar vehicles, including 1977-1978 Dodge Polaras and Plymouth Furys, were used throughout the series due to the high volume of cars needed for stunts. Unlike the high-flying General Lee, these patrol cars usually ended up in mud holes, crashing into fences, or having its doors torn off during the show’s chaotic chases!
